Photos and social features

Uploading a photo does not by itself give us the right to post it on our social media. Featuring is opt-in: a separate checkbox at upload that says we may feature it with credit. You can revoke that permission at any time; we will stop future use, though we cannot un-publish something already posted elsewhere.

Note on deletion: ratings you left inside a club remain part of that club's shared history after you delete your account, because other members' rankings were built from them. Email us if you want those removed too and we will do it manually.

Depending on where you live you may also have rights to access, correct, port or erase your data, and to object to processing. Email us and we will comply.

Retention

We keep your data while your account exists. After deletion, backups may retain fragments for up to 90 days.

Children

BurgerHound is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.

Security

Access is controlled by server-side rules; sign-in is handled by Google (we never see or store a password); an optional fingerprint/Face ID lock is available. No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Where data is processed

The United States. If you use BurgerHound from outside the US, your data is transferred to and processed in the US.

Changes

We'll update this page and change the date above. Material changes will be announced in the app.

TERMS OF SERVICE

1. Agreement

By using BurgerHound you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use it.

2. The service

BurgerHound lets you rate burgers, rank them against each other, and share those rankings with friends and, optionally, the public. It is provided as is, with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy or fitness for any purpose.

3. Your account

You are responsible for activity under your account. Don't impersonate anyone. One person, one account.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you post. By posting, you grant BurgerHound a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute that content within the service. Use of your photos on BurgerHound's social media channels requires the separate, explicit permission you grant at upload, which you may revoke at any time.

You confirm that you have the right to post what you post, and that it doesn't infringe anyone's rights.

5. Rules

Don't post content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, sexual, deceptive, or defamatory. Don't post false accusations about a restaurant (food safety, hygiene, crime) — take those to the health department, not a burger app. Don't spam, manipulate ratings, use bots, scrape the service, or attempt to break its security.

6. Ratings and rankings

Rankings reflect the opinions of BurgerHound users. They are not statements of fact about any restaurant's quality, safety or legal compliance. We never sell rankings. Restaurants cannot pay to be listed, to rank higher, or to be marked a Legend. Sponsored deals, where they exist, are clearly labelled and have no effect on ranking.

7. Restaurants

Restaurant names and addresses are factual information gathered from public sources. If you're a restaurant owner and something is wrong, or you want your listing removed, email us.

8. Moderation

We may remove content, suspend accounts, or end a club that breaks these rules, usually with notice, immediately where necessary.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time in the app. We can suspend or end your access for a breach of these terms.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, BurgerHound is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for anything arising from your reliance on a rating. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months (which, for free users, is zero).

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify BurgerHound against claims arising from content you post or your breach of these terms.

12. Changes

We may update these terms; continued use after an update means acceptance.
